Smart Monitoring and Controlling of Appliances Using LoRa Based IoT System

Artificial Intelligence Based Air Conditioner Energy Saving Using a Novel Preference Map

Air Conditioning (AC) systems have contributed to a high percentage of the residential building energy consumption. Most of the recently released AC models are Internet of Things enabled. The data generated from all these ACs can be analyzed to understand the usage pattern and energy saving. In this paper, we have proposed a Cloud based Arti_cial Intelligence (AI) solution that uses the data from 37,748 ACs to analyze and generate a novel 2-D Preference Map. We have used the Preference Map in our AI solution to automatically generate Top-K energy saving recommendations. These recommendations will be provided to the user when the AC operational settings are selected. Our solution reduces the AC energy consumption by a median 57.38% (for the Top-1 recommendation) compared to the AC settings that were selected by the user. Enhancing Smart Home Security using Co-Monitoring of IoT Devices

This study explores smart home hub features to co-monitor IoT device access through Role and Event Based Access Control (REBAC), leveraging a device owner’s social network, i.e. neighbors and relatives, when homeowners are not available or have failed to respond to a potential threat. Our findings of user studies with two pilot groups demonstrated user’s willingness to share access to their smart homes, provided access controls had limited permissions. This paper presents an air quality measurement system that is composed of a distributed sensor network connected to a cloud system forming a wireless sensor network (WSN). Sensor nodes are based on low-power ZigBee motes, and transmit ?eld measurement data to the cloud through a gateway. An optimized cloud computing system has been implemented to store, monitor, process, and visualize the data received from the sensor network. In this paper, we propose developing a system optimally watering agricultural crops based on a wireless sensor network. This work aimed to design and develop a control system using node sensors in the crop ?eld with data management via smartphone and a web application. The three components are hardware, web application, and mobile application. The ?rst component was designed and implemented in control box hardware connected to collect data on the crops. Soil moisture sensors are used to monitor the ?eld, connecting to the control box.
